The Transportation Security Administration is set to further roll out its “family lanes” at airport screening checkpoints in time for the holiday period.

The TSA already has 48 airports with the so-called “black diamond” system, which allow travelers to choose screening based on their familiarity with the process, and whether they may have children or other family members requiring extra assistance. Now, the agency is expanding the program to open the lanes at every large and midsize airport by November 20.

Aside from easing the stress faced by flyers traveling with children, the move will also allow individuals and families to carry medically necessary liquids, gels, or aerosols in excess of the three-ounce limit through the checkpoints.
