Thanks for discovering AeroChannel. You've found us during our soft launch period. So what do we do? AeroChannel is about getting you to the gate on time with live traffic, parking, check-in and security line updates - from our reporters and Tipsters like you. AeroChannel brings you regular live updates from America's busiest airports. Best of all, we have the capability of covering the world - so send us your Tipster reports from wherever you may be and we'll update your fellow travelers. Of course, we'll also give you your basic flight information including terminal, departure and arrival times, and more.
As for our current Beta status - this means not everything is working just right, but it's getting there, and with your help, it will get even better. In fact, we have a major update coming at the end of July. Read below for information on the working and non-working features as of today.
Mon - Fri: Live on-site coverage from: LAX (1:30p - 11p PDT), JFK (5a - 1p EDT), PHX (7a - 7p MT) plus our news staff will be regularly updating airport information and tipster reports throughout the day. We will also have additional limited coverage of the 25 busiest U.S. airports.
Saturday & Sunday: Regular updates by our news staff and from tipsters. Limited on-site reporting.
As always, we welcome your Tipster reports!
One note: aerochannel is designed for day of flight, so our flight information only looks forward about 14 hours and back about 10 hrs. Let us know if this is a big problem.
Please Note: The following features are not yet live and are still being tested or tweaked:
•Flight Cancellations/delays - this is a biggy, and I am personally very sorry about this. Right now, the system does not always automatically update a cancelled or delayed flight time in the flight information boxes. This will be corrected in the late July update.
•aero2go - some of the info on aero2go (the mobile version) is more limited than the main site. A temp fix has been made, but we'll be improving the layout and information in August.
•Keep me Updated: This feature "mostly works" but is going to be adjusted. It currently only sends an update when your flight info changes - not when the airport status changes. We'll probably tell it to send an update every 30min until your flight.
•The Stories layout can be better, and that will be addressed in the future.
•The employment PDF is not yet posted, but the info as there - and we always love volunteer "reporters".
There are still some generic gremlins in the system too - and we're working on those. In the meantime, play, enjoy and check back with us again for the more enhanced live features and other improvements. Send your thoughts to: comments@aerochannel.com
