For most of the last century, Los Angeles was a hotbed of aircraft production, and a center for aviation firsts.

From Santa Monica to Mojave, the products of Lockheed, Consolidated Douglas and McDonald filled the skies over Southern California. This area has hosted great air shows at Edwards Air Force Base, Van Nuys Airport, and the skies over Huntington Beach.

The Los Angeles area hosts no more grand air shows, with the exception of one: The American Heroes Air Show. This unusual show is dedicated to the men and women who fly helicopters to serve the public - police, fire, military, rescue and news choppers are all well represented.
