World's Busiest Airports

Atlanta is once again the busiest airport in the world, according to the latest numbers.

The Airports Council International (ACI), a trade group representing the world’s airports, says Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International took top prize again, seeing 89.4 million passengers in 2007.

Number two was Chicago O’Hare, with 76.1 million, followed by London Heathrow, Tokyo Haneda, and Los Angeles International Airport.

Other U.S. cities making the list (world ranking): Dallas-Fort Worth (7), Denver (11), New York JFK (13), Las Vegas (15), Houston (16), Phoenix (17), Orlando (20), Newark (21), Detroit (22), San Francisco (23), Minneapolis (26), Miami (29), and Charlotte (30).

When it comes to the top cargo airports, number one worldwide is Memphis. The FedEx home base was followed in the rankings by Hong Kong and Anchorage, which is a hub for United Parcel Service.
