New lanes designed to speed up the security screening process have come to John Wayne Airport.

After a successful test of the system in Salt Lake City earlier this year, the Transportation Security Administration’s “Black Diamond Self-Select Lanes” have now been deployed at approximately 30 airports throughout the nation.

The lanes are designed to make it easier and faster for people to get through security. Travelers can choose between “expert” level lanes for the frequent traveler, “casual” lanes for those with some knowledge of the screening process, and “families and special assistance” lanes for those needing more time and are not as familiar with what to do.

The lanes are being used at John Wayne Airport on a 30-day trial basis, but will likely remain permanent, as they have at all other airports which have put them into use.
