“A serious accident waiting to happen,” with those words California Senator Diane Feinstein recently warned President Barack Obama about the shortage of air traffic controllers in Southern California. In fact, it’s a nationwide problem.
When President Obama takes a closer look at the control towers across the country, he’ll find a list of critical issues that must be resolved. Toping the list is the recruitment of thousand of new controllers. There is also the ongoing contract dispute between the FAA and the controllers' union.
